Comedy Shows Create Family Bonding Time

Without a doubt, the television is one of the greatest advancements in technology. Most people these days cannot live without a TV; it has indeed become more of a necessity, especially among the younger generation. It has to be made clear, though, that despite its many benefits, the TV comes without risks as there are quite a lot of TV shows that are not exactly child-friendly. It therefore becomes of utmost importance for the parents to keep a close watch of their children especially when it comes to TV watching.

Watching TV can breed positive values as it enhances cooperation and encourages tolerance and respect. At the same time, however, since watching TV means fewer active moments, it can make one prone to obesity. Aside from that, it can expose kids to violence and drug abuse, cigarette smoking, alcohol drinking, and sex.

Make watching TV a family activity. Consider having a regular "family movie night" at home. Search some kind of kid friendly title that is suitable for the whole family and involve children in choosing and talking about the films you watch together. When a family sits together and watch movies they bring the family closer.

Comedy shows are great for the whole family. Laughing out loud together can make you feel a lot closer; and really, there's nothing better than a good laugh to make you more energized. So as you can see, comedy shows not only promote a healthy disposition, they also help you achieve general well being.

Funny films and TV shows that make children laugh helps them tolerate pain for longer periods of time according to the study. Making family movie night special can be accomplished by also making it something for the kids to look forward to.

It really does not matter what kind of shows your children choose. They can watch movies that even grown ups will enjoy. The important thing is that you can be together and laugh together as a family.

The practice of watching wholesome comedy shows with your children can be stress relieving; it also helps to develop a healthy state of mind.

Doing things together as a family, even by just watching a comedy show and laughing out loud as one, is a well learned lesson for the kids; learn to laugh, don't take things so seriously, and lighten up.

Pinball Struggles To Survive In A Digital World

Having survived a couple of World Wars, countless recessions, the indignation of lifestyle police, and most recently the video game phenomenon it appeared that pinball was just too tough to kill. That's why it was a surprise when WMS Industries, the dominant player in the industry for the past decade and the maker of Williams and Bally machines, announced that it was getting out of the business several years ago. WMS wasn't in any sort of financial peril, but rather they wanted to focus on their more lucrative slot machine and video poker business.

Until the 1980's, pinball dominated the arcade. In the late 1970's and on the heels of the film adaptation of The Who's pinball themed rock opera 'Tommy' arcades featured row after row of new machines from over a half dozen US based manufacturers. Countless other machines were made worldwide. The first shot of the video game industry didn't make much of a dent--'Pong' was revolutionary, but its gameplay was downright dull compared to pinball. It also required two players, another downside in the often solitary isolation of the arcade. The first real challenge to pinball was the second generation of video games, including 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'.

Pinball put up a good fight, and popular games continued to appear through the mid 1980's. Several pinball games were actually spinoffs of popular video games--"Spy Hunter and Space Invaders and a number of not so good ones based on the Pac Man video games. For awhile, pinball and video games enjoyed an uneasy co-existence, much like Mac and Windows in the computer world.

In the late 1980's, however, pinball began to lose its way. Gottlieb and others made simple, traditional games that just couldnt compete with their video counterparts. Bally and other manufacturers went the opposite route"by cramming so much onto a playfield that the game hardly resembled traditional pinball. Some of Ballys late 1980s games"with so much playfield gimmickry going on"were nearly unplayable. By this point video games had taken over the arcade. Some larger arcades continued to offer a few pinball machines to placate hardcores, while some eliminated pinball altogether.

In the 1990's, pinball began to experience a bit of a comeback driven by well designed, enjoyable games that finally got the balance between traditional gameplay and modern technology right. Williams was at the forefront of the return to excellent design and gameplay, and its hard to think of a Williams game from this period that wasnt a fun game to play, if not a borderline classic. The mainstream media began to notice the renaissance, and noted that the average pinball machine received much more repeat business than the average video game and about the devotion of the pinball player.

With the century drawing to a close, it seemed that the Williams/Bally outfit had found a niche and would be able to grind out pinball machines for the aficionados forever. The final nail in the coffin, however, was a lot of societal changes beyond their control. For one, video games and video arcades became less profitable as companies like Sony and Nintendo were able to transform a lot of the high end gameplay to the home platform. Meanwhile, trends like new urbanism, which saw a return to downtown storefronts and the growth of online shopping combined to hurt traditional shopping malls. Fewer people were going to malls, and they werent staying as long when they did. Mega-malls like the Mall of America and the Forum Shops at Caesar's were the exception to this, but there just werent enough to these to sustain demand. As the century ended, the WMS corporate braintrust decided to pull the plug on pinball and concentrate on their highly profitable gambling machine business. From a business standpoint, it probably made sense but that didnt make it any easier for lifelong pinball enthusiasts to reconcile with.

Pinball still soldiers on, with something of a hipster revival of the games in cities like Seattle and Portland where lovingly restored machines sit alongside new offerings by Stern Pinball, the only remaining manufacturer in the world. At this point, it appears that the only hope for pinball players is that some effort will be made to preserve the machines that already exist.

Online Bass Guitar Lessons: Determine What and Where To Practice

I recommend getting a bass guitar though, because the strings are fatter, harder to press than those of an acoustic guitar, and the frets are wider apart. You can learn on your own, but looking up tabs, listening to songs and individually listening to the bass lines and trying to figure it out.

But will you be learning the proper techniques, the proper fingering? You best hire yourself a tutor. If you want to learn slap bass, it's the ultimate way to go. And it's also a great way of improving your music skills.

If your strings ever break mysteriously at the bridge, check your saddles. If there are any string "bite" marks, snags or burrs on the saddles, it means that they are wearing down your strings and the constant vibration of the strings makes the burrs act like little saws on the windings of the string. Eventually the core gives in - and POW, there goes a string - and possibly an eyeball.

With your thumb in position as described under the Hand Positioning section strike the low E string with the middle knuckle of your thumb and hit it pretty hard to get that classic "thump' sound and then immediately release.

Advanced players must have some command of scale, chord and arpeggio patterns, to be advanced, yet often they get real fast and efficient with enough patterns to impress others and get by, but they realize how extremely limited they still are, and how they are not really as advanced as they would like to be because of their insufficient scope and grasp of a complete mastery of the fretboard with the current patterns that they already know, as well as the theoretical aspect behind the patterns and their use.

It combines the plucking of the bottom notes with the percussive hits that the palm makes when it slaps the strings against the fingerboard. Slap bass is a very percussive style. It's invention (on electric bass) has been credited to Larry Graham, of funk bands Sly& the Family Stone and Graham Central Station, allegedly improvising on an occasion when their band was left without a drummer! Slap bass is a must for the musicians who use spectacular and popular funk slap techniques which demands specific snappy attacks.

Never play in a club where there's a "house soundman." Guaranteed - they will get paid more than the band, in most cases, and the probably have a standard sound for all the basses, without knowing your playing style. He probably eq your bass with an insane volume range.

A tooth-loosening, earth shattering bass sound is attainable at the home studio level through two highly effective recording methods: by micing the bass amp with a quality signal chain, using a direct injection box to go straight to the board/input, or both!

For the most up to date information aboutfree online bass lessons, this is the only resource you will ever need online bass guitar lessons
