Follow my little method here and you certainly will always recall that it's not German Shepards, but shepherds.
Think back to why this breed of dog was created and perhaps you'll quickly figure it out. The German Shepherd was created as a labor canine, & it was only at the turn of the century that this dog came to life.
Folks in Germany needed a dog to help herd sheep. Think of the words herd & sheep this time, & then reverse them. You don't think of the German Shepards (I'm kidding) now as sheep herding dogs, as they are usually used by police to combat crime, in airports to sniff out substances, and in other places that rely on the dog's good olfactory senses.
This, however, is why they happened to be bred, & remembering this will make it much easier to write the word appropriately.
As long as you aim to keep this in mind any time you spell out the word, I suppose you'll get it correctly from here. Do not feel too badly regarding it since 1 in three people do spell it mistakenly.
I hope this has been valuable. Here's to some spelling successes in the future when it comes to this fantastic type of dog.
